As commercial real estate covers a broad range of transactions, our real estate transactional practice involves apartment complexes, hotels, office buildings, shopping centers, industrial sites, mixed-use developments, condominium developments, residential and commercial subdivisions, churches and undeveloped land, and all aspects of agricultural land. We also help clients with commercial leasing, counseling clients regarding operational issues related to property management, loan workouts and negotiations, debt restructuring, and foreclosure. We also regularly handle acquisitions and dispositions, creditor's rights, development, management, financing, leasing, real estate litigation, zoning and land use, and other related areas and deals. Burdett, Morgan, Williamson & Boykin also prides itself on its abilities in forming joint ventures, general and limited partnerships, limited liability companies, corporations, and other entities for the acquisition and operation of real estate or businesses relating to real estate.
We currently represent all types of participants in commercial real estate transactions including: institutional and individual developers, real estate departments of banks and other institutional lenders (in Texas and throughout the United States), individual lenders and borrowers, and scores of other real estate oriented clients. We also enjoy the distinction of serving as corporate counsel to one of the first entities to organize in Texas as a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT). In addition, our lawyers serve as counsel to independent trust companies which serve as indenture trustee on bond offerings typically secured by real estate and issued by non-profit organizations throughout the United States. In this capacity, Burdett, Morgan, Williamson & Boykin, L.L.P. has developed specialized expertise in loan transactions to churches and other non-profit organizations, and in municipal bond offerings.
