THOMAS L. BURDETT

Thomas L. Burdett, along with Gerald G. Morgan, Jr. originally founded Burdett, Morgan, Williamson & Boykin.

Mr. Burdett was born in Blanco, Texas on October 12, 1942; graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in 1965 and graduated from the University of Texas School of Law with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 1967. He was admitted to the practice of law in the State of Texas in 1967. Mr. Burdett established the roots of the firm in 1972 when he and Wayne E. Thomas established the firm of Thomas & Burdett.

Mr. Burdett is licensed to practice in all the state courts in Texas, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States Tax Court, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Mr. Burdett is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Amarillo Area Bar Association and is a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Mr. Burdett is AV rated by Martindale Hubble Law Directory, the highest rating assigned by that prestigious publication. He serves on the Board of Directors of Happy State Bank of Happy, Texas with offices in Amarillo, Canyon, and Happy, a prominent locally-owned banking institution.

Mr. Burdett's practice primarily focuses on commercial transactions and commercial entities, including energy matters, real estate, estate planning and probate. A representative list of the types of matters handled by Mr. Burdett is set forth below:

Mr. Burdett has been heavily involved in the representation of energy-related matters for over 30 years. He has been involved in landmark oil and gas court decisions, including matters before the United States Supreme Court and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Burdett also represents clients in complex estate planning and probate matters including matters which have resulted in significant new tax law appeals in the United States.

Mr. Burdett has formed and represented some of the largest feed yards and numerous other agricultural and business entities.

Mr. Burdett has also served on numerous civic boards, charitable organization boards and is active in his church family.
