Paul Williamson

Mr. Williamson has called Amarillo, Texas his home for virtually his entire life. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1978, earned his undergraduate degree in Finance from Hankamer School of Business, Baylor University (graduating cum laude in 1982), and his law degree from Baylor University School of Law in 1985. Mr. Williamson returned to Amarillo in 1985 and began his practice concentrating on insurance defense with Culton, Morgan, Britain & White. Mr. Williamson joined Burdett, Morgan & Thomas in May 1988, and has been a partner since 1990. In his years of experience, Mr. Williamson has developed a unique blend of legal expertise in business transactions and business litigation.

Mr. Williamson has served hundreds of clients in business planning situations, in the formation and operation of various types of business entities (including corporations ["C" and "S"], general and limited partnerships, family limited partnerships, limited liability companies, and non-profit corporations), and in estate planning and probate matters. Mr. Williamson has completed many transactions involving the purchase or sale of businesses, business assets, and real estate. He has also assisted numerous clients with estate planning including the drafting of wills, by-pass trusts, revocable trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, and charitable trusts. Mr. Williamson has enjoyed the privilege of serving as counselor to churches and ministries of various denominations and sizes, having guided these organizations through their incorporation, adoption of by-laws, selections of elders/directors, organizational structure, application for tax-exempt status, and various operational issues. Mr. Williamson applies his practical, results-oriented approach to business planning, business formation, estate planning, and business operations issues, seeking to identify the specific client goals in each instance, and timely assisting each client to achieve his/her goals in an economical manner.

A capable trial lawyer, Mr. Williamson has achieved successful resolutions in hundreds of contested cases by way of jury trials, bench trials, summary judgments, and negotiated or mediated settlement agreements. Mr. Williamson has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in disputed matters involving construction contracts, insurance claims, real estate contracts, purchases of goods and services by consumers, and contested probate matters. The satisfactory results obtained by Mr. Williamson are achieved through his knowledge, preparation and common sense, diligently applied on behalf of his clients in each matter before him. Mr. Williamson's honest evaluation of facts in each case, and accurate analysis in application of the law to those facts, combined with his adherence to the highest ethical standards, consistently produces merited, favorable results.

Mr. Williamson, an "AV" rated attorney, has been an active member of the Amarillo Area Bar Association (Director, 1997-99 and President-Elect, 2003-04 and President, 2004-05), and a member of the Amarillo Area Young Lawyers Association. He is a past director and past President of Kids Incorporated of Amarillo, and currently serves as a trustee on the Kids, Inc. Foundation. He was a member of the City of Amarillo Planning and Zoning Commission for six years, serving as Chairman in 2007-08. Mr. Williamson is married to Sarah, and has two children: Brad, who is married to Magen, and Alyssa; and one grandson, Braeden.
